If you have a business that sources products from China and such sites as Aliexpress, Alibaba or DHGate…

You should understand what ePacket delivery is.

As a savvy business owner, it is important to keep “UP TO DATE” with shipping procedures. ePacket shipping is the BEST way to ship products from China to you, your warehouse or what I love – STRAIGHT TO YOUR CUSTOMER (AKA Drop shipping)

What is ePacket shipping:

The suppliers in China and Hong Kong are offering ePacket shipping facility that makes the process of transferring products from one place to another, easier and affordable. Traditionally, the China EMS was the only option that was used to transfer products at affordable prices. THIS TOOK A LONG TIME to get to you and sometimes without tracking!

Now –   with ePacket shipping you can track the location of your ordered product. This tracking is done without any additional charges.

1. Requirements for an ePacket shipping:

The requirements for the ePacket delivery is clearly explained by the United States Postal Service. According to these guidelines, the packet that is to be transferred should have a maximum length of 24” (60 cm). The total height, width and length of any packet should not exceed 36” (90 cm). The weight of the package should not be more than 2 kg (4.4 lbs). Moreover, it can be shipped from Hong Kong or China to any of the eligible countries.

2. The time duration for the arrival of the package:

The time duration each package takes to arrive at a destination depends on different factors. For example, the delays from customs, public holidays or any other hindrance. On average, the time duration a package can take for delivery is 10-20 days. This time duration may vary in different countries according to their rules.

The KEY ADVANTAGE here is that the packages take almost half of time to get delivered at a specific place with ePacket shipping.

Moreover, the facility of tracking provided in the ePacket shipping makes it easier to track the exact location and estimated time of arrival.

This is HUGE for your customer service inquiries!

On ‘rare occasion’ an ePacket delivery may get “delayed” (increases during Christmas time) but when you can provide your credit card merchant or paypal proof you’ve shipped it with a USPS tracking number – you will win ANY disputes any customer may have with you.

CAVEAT – realistically – if you’re cost of the product your customer ordered is say $2.00 and you are charging $20.00 retail…well it is just “good customer service” to ship out another identical item to that customer and say something like”

“Hey – I’m so sorry we can’t control the postal service and we have shipped out your order, tracking number __________, however as we want you to be a HAPPY customer, I’ll ship you another one and heck, if you finally end up receiving the other original order – keep it or give it as a gift to someone and we look forward to you ordering again from us soon”

BTW in case you are wondering ‘what does the package look like”…see this photo below:

3. Tracking of ePacket delivery:

There are several ways through which you can track the location of your ePacket. The first way is to use the official website. If your package is in China you can use EMS and if it is in the USA, use USPS to get the information.

You can also trackthe package using a third party. I personally have used:
– Aftership or Packagetrackr

I personally LOVE ePacket because you get the package delivered in as little as 1-3 weeks.

Now that may sound like – “OMG Maria that’s way too long…won’t my customers complain?”

Hold on to your horses…guess what – as long as you provide communications to your customers and let them know it takes 2-3 weeks then 99% of your customers won’t mind.  And as a business owner – you have to be ok with the 1% as part of your business.  The profit margins are worth it and sometimes if you warehouse items, that cuts TOO much into your profit margins for you to have a sustainable business.

4. What countries are eligible for ePacket?  ANSWER:  30 Countries

As of this time here are the countries that you can ship to from China to your customer:

Lastly you might be wondering…How will I know…

If I order from Aliexpress that they supplier shipped via ePacket?

Great question – when you check your order status in Aliexpress it will give you a tracking number.

If that tracking number starts with an L – then you know it’s ePacket!  Here’s an image from one of my Aliexpress orders.

If you follow these 3 tips when you order an epacket from China you should minimize any potential problems.
